The Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment

We believe in being a positive force in something bigger. And it all starts right here in our community. Not just by our donations, but by our actions.

That's why we stay true to our Love Promise Community Commitment by partnering with a wide variety of community nonprofits and charities.

Every year, we join hands with our owners in the "Share the Love" event, giving back to our community-a community that's given so much to us.

So, every day, we strive to ensure our love is felt not just by our customers, but by all in our community. We do this because we feel it is the right thing to do.

We are proud to participate in the Love Promise Community Commitment. We're grateful, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve and support the causes and passions that are closest to our hearts, right here in our neighborhood.

All of the organizations we support have one thing in common: the unwavering dedication to improve the world and the lives of its people.

On July 17th, employees from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) teamed up with Metric Subaru to deliver hope to patients at Huntington Hospital. Metric Subaru employees including Vinny Rizzo packed their Subaru Forester filled with blankets, kid’s craft kits, and care cards to spread courage and comfort to the patients of Huntington Hospital. Metric Subaru, a family owned and operated dealership for over 45 years prides itself on partnering with the community to make a difference and this partnership with LLS is no exception. Huntington Hospital was kind enough to allow Vinny from Metric Subaru to go up to the Oncology Floor waiting area to present these items including the care cards which were handwritten by Metric’s employees and customers.

Delivery of Hope to Huntington Hospital  –  Angela C

Delivery of Hope to Huntington Hospital

Metric Subaru joined the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to deliver blankets, craft kits, and messages of hope from their customers to patients at Huntington Hospital. Vinny Rizzo from Metric Subaru, accompanied by LLS Staff, met with Allie Zendrian, Director of Public Relations at Huntington Hospital. Allie escorted us to the oncology floor patient waiting area: a room comfortably furnished, bathed in natural light, and filled with books, magazines, toys, etc. The room was designed with large windows that overlooked the hospital grounds and even gave access to a lovely patio. It was apparent the hospital made a sincere effort to offer a bit of serenity to patients and their families during such a trying time. The nursing staff enthusiastically opened up boxes and shared how grateful the patients and their family would be for the generous donations. Vinny responded that customers and staff of the dealership truly enjoyed filling out the messages of hope for patients – it was a rewarding and meaningful experience they were happy to be a part of. One member of the nursing staff pointed out that the art & crafts kits could serve a dual purpose: entertaining and comforting young patients, as well as the children of patients who accompany their parents to treatments. All in all, members from Huntington hospital, as well as those from Metric Subaru, have felt the affect one small act of kindness can have, thanks to Subaru’s partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Providing Peace  –  Karen H

Providing Peace

With the gracious help of Subaru, We, at St.Anthony of Padua Parish Outreach were able to help a family to provide a wake, funeral and burial for their father/husband who passed due to Pancreatic cancer. This man's wife , with 2 daughters, first came in for utility assistance in November 2016 and expressed concern that her husband's chemo treatments were no longer working and that he had a very dire prognosis. They had no life insurance, and although she worked part time, in between caring for her husband and children, they were struggling to make ends meet. She knew that when the time came, she would not be able to afford to give her husband a proper burial. In February 2017, the husband and father passed away. Without the help of Subaru in helping St. Anthony of Padua Parish Outreach with these generous donations, she would not have been able to get the love, peace and compassionate assistance she received. Thank you Subaru!

Helping a handicapped Family  –  Karen H

Helping a handicapped Family

Thanks to Subaru and the donations we received, we were able to help a family of 5 with their home. The family has a daughter who had a brain injury and is biopolar and paranoid schizophrenic. 1 son is dyslexic, and youngest son with ADHD/OCD and learning diabilities. The father works but the mother is not able to because of all the needs of the children. They had been in bankruptcy and almost foreclosure in 2014 and 2015, because the father lost his job and took a big pay cut to gain employment. Due to these financial issues, they were not able to properly maintain their home, which had fallen into disrepair. We replaced the roof which was leaking and provided new wood look laminate flooring since all the carpeting was old and soiled. It has provided much relief to this needy family that they can have a safe, clean living environment. They are so grateful to Subaru for helping St.Anthony's Parish Outreach help them!

Metric Subaru and Long Island LLS  –  Jamie G

Metric Subaru and Long Island LLS

LLS Light The Night Walk staff met with Lisa Nemerson of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Commack, NY to deliver blankets and care cards from Metric Subaru in Huntington, NY. The customers and staff from the dealership put so much thought into the care cards, that we were so excited to give them to the hospital to begin distributing to their patients. The hospital was blown away at Subaru’s generosity and couldn’t express enough how a gift like this really helps their patients. They said it shows the patients just how much others care for them and gives them hope during such a difficult time. Subaru’s philanthropic work is truly remarkable and we are honored to have partnered with them.

Metric Subaru's Outstanding Customer Service  –  Eric R

Metric Subaru's Outstanding Customer Service

On March 7, 2014, while driving to work, my air pressure light came on the dashboard. Fearful that I needed a new tire, I called Metric Subaru to come in for an appointment. As always Metric was able to get me right in. IT turned out that although my tires were fine, I needed new struts. Unfortunately, the parts were not in. It was a Friday afternoon and the parts wouldn't be in until Tuesday. However, Tuesday (03/11/14) was going to be a big day for us. My husband and I were expecting our first child via gestational surrogacy in Pennsylvania so I needed my car in prefect working order. Mary made sure the parts would be in. The parts came in as expected and we were able to make it to Pennsylvania for the birth of our daughter. That is why I only bring my car to Metric Subaru. They always go above and beyond for me. Plus Mary is the best. Eric Rubin

Exceeding Customer Service  –  Arthur G

Exceeding Customer Service

Around the middle of July my husband and I were trying to refill the windshield washer fluid. Unfortunately, he put some in the liquid anti-freeze by accident. Something told me to call Subaru since I had a sense that such a situation might harm the car. Mary Spira and Rich Ciarletta showed up at our door, and took our 2014 Forester to Metric Subaru for repair. We have been Subaru owners with Metric since the '70s but this far exceeds "customer service." Not only was this unexpected, but also generous of them on their lunch hour to come and get our car! We love you Mary and Richie!

Exceptional Customer Service  –  Geri L

Exceptional Customer Service

My first Subaru was a 2003 Forester. It was my favorite car of all time. I took a long time to find a car. What I loved about this car was the visibility and the way it held the road. I loved the fact of its color green, and I loved the fact of its being a manual. I never expected it to die! What I love about Subaru...its reputation-with those who are loyal to it... I love that the insignia connects it to the "Seven Sisters" of the Pleiades, not to mention how wonderful the Metric Subaru people are... they are "there" for the car and me.... They know surprising things about me, namely that I have an irrational love for Ohio, that I have violinists for kids, and they tolerate my eccentricities. I have more than once had difficulties when they came thru for me, the most notable and over the top moment was when I started smelling oil driving back from NYC, from my teaching gig. I was in the parking lot of my daughter's high school when I decided to open up the top and see, only to realize that my oil was leaking from the bottom, and was completely draining-- all over the high school parking lot. I called Mary and Rich, explained my problem, asked if I should drive there, they didn't think I should and they--the two of them, along with another mechanic whose name I forget--arrived in Mary's own car. We called a tow truck that towed the car to Subaru, and they repaired the oil leak, giving me Mary's own car to borrow, so I could drive my daughter home.

Great Appreciation for Outstanding Service  –  Robert M

Great Appreciation for Outstanding Service

A little over a year ago, I finally managed to make my dream of owning a Subaru come true. I purchased a 2010 Subaru Outback from a Subaru Retailer in New Jersey. Dealing with this retailer was superb! Due to my busy work schedule I couldn't bring my car to that retailer for service but I found Metric Subaru in Huntington NY. I have brought it in to Metric for service three times and have yet to leave there without feeling the service department genuinely enjoys helping their customers. Recently, I discovered an issue with my lumbar support that needed a support clip. I headed to the parts department of Metric to get the clip. I was initially told they couldn't find the part in the system. For a moment, I thought I wouldn't be able to get the part BUT the moment was brief. Even though it was only a $22 part John started digging through diagrams til he found the part. The lengths he went for a tiny, cheap metal clip were appreciated and I left a very happy customer.

Share The Love With Humane Society of Tacoma and Pierce County  –  Lindsay O

Share The Love With Humane Society of Tacoma and Pierce County

Lindsay and all the team members at the Tacoma Humane Society were thrilled when Harnish Auto Family Puyallup asked them to participate in the Subaru "Share the Love" event. Subaru has made it clear about their love for animals through their popular (and sometimes tear jerking) national commercials. Due to their wonderful animal friendly marketing, we knew this event would be a success and offer great support to our homeless pets. Harnish was gracious enough to donate $250 to our shelter for every new Subaru purchased from November through January 2014. In the end, a check for nearly $8,000 was donated to the shelter, and every penny has been a tremendous help. The money raised went to many different programs such as our Emergency Pet Food Pantry, the Cinderella Fund and Cat & Doge Enrichment. Not to mention supplying essential materials to make the stay here at the shelter as comfortable as possible for the nearly 6,000 animals that come through our doors every year. We are so thankful for their amazing donation and hope to partner with them again in the future!
